Not Your Body, Not Your Choice | Shannon O'Dell

Your faith isn’t just spiritual — it’s physical.

Your faith isn’t just spiritual — it’s physical.

Scripture is clear: your body matters to God. In this message, we unpack why real change in any area of life starts with how you steward your body — and how physical health itself is an act of worship.

“You are not your own.” (1 Corinthians 6:19)

Using the FAITH framework — Forsake. Alter. Intercede. Test. Health. — we walk through what the Bible actually says about your body and why God takes it seriously.

Why your body matters:

God expects you to manage your body (1 Cor. 6:12)

Your body is God’s property, not culture’s playground (1 Cor. 6:13)

Your body will be resurrected (1 Cor. 6:14)

Your body is connected to the body of Christ (1 Cor. 6:15)

The Holy Spirit lives in your body — it’s God’s temple (1 Cor. 6:19)

Jesus bought your body at the cross (1 Cor. 6:20)

If you’d confront someone vandalizing a church building, why ignore it when it happens to God’s temple?

Three biblical acts of worship with your body:

Cleanse your body — what you allow in your mind and what you consume (2 Cor. 7:1)

Care for your body — feed it and nurture it as Christ does the Church (Eph. 5:29)

Control your body — so it doesn’t control you (1 Thess. 4:4)

The plan for real body change:

Increase your faith — everything you do is for God’s glory (1 Cor. 10:31)

Intake proper food — you control far more than you think

Include fitness — 30 minutes a day, no excuses, no regrets

Your body is a gift.

Your body is valuable.

Your body is worship.

Honor God with it.
